Gemstones are quite literally hard as rock, buy they can be damaged from careless handling and negligence. Here are some tips for keeping your gems and jewelry looking fabulous for years to come.
Remember, even the hardest gemstone variety can be vulnerable to breakage if it has inclusions that weaken the crystal structure. Exercise common sense: if you have a ring set with a softer gem variety or an included stone, take it off before strenuous exercise. Even the hardest gem of them all, the diamond, can shatter in two with a single well-placed blow.
Never remove rings by pulling on the stone: that habit may result in a loose, then lost, gem. Most importantly, store each piece of gemstone jewelry separately so that harder stones don’t scratch softer ones. Almost every gemstone is much harder than the metal it is set in. Gems can scratch the finish on your gold, silver or platinum if you throw your jewelry in a heap in a drawer or jewelry box.
Rings in particular tend to collect dust and soap behind the gem, especially if worn often. You need to clean them regularly to let the light in so your gems can shine. To clean transparent crystalline gemstones, simply soak them in water with a touch of gentle dish soap. Use a bowl of water rather than the sink to eliminate the risk of anything going down the drain. If necessary, use a soft toothbrush to scrub behind the stone. Rinse the soap off and pat dry with a lint-free cloth (you want to make sure threads won't catch on the prongs).
Think twice before putting gems in an ultrasonic cleaner. Diamonds, rubies and sapphires will be fine but many other gems many not be, in particular emerald, opal, pearls, peridot: when in doubt, leave it out.
Organic gems like pearls, coral, and amber should only be wiped clean with moist cloth. Due to their organic nature, these gems are both soft and porous. Be careful about chemicals in hairspray, cosmetics, or perfume: they can, over time, damage pearls in particular.
Opals also require special care. Never use an ultrasonic, ammonia, any chemical solution. Avoid heat and strong light. Opaque gemstones like lapis lazuli, turquoise, malachite, require special care because they are rocks, not crystals of a single mineral like transparent gems. These gem materials should just be wiped clean gently with a moist cloth. These gemstones can be porous and may absorb chemicals, even soap, and they may build up inside the stone and discolor it.
Stainless steel jewelry won't rust but it can tarnish over time. Steel jewelry does not tarnish as fast as silver jewelry but the rate of tarnishing depends on how it’s used. As with any jewelry it is best to avoid contact with chemicals (lotions, chlorine from pools etc.) in order to keep it cleaner longer. Steel jewelry is easy to clean, you can use mild dishwashing liquid (two or three drops in warm water will do) and wipe it down with a soft cloth. Steel jewelry is very durable and can withstand a lot of wear and tear, as opposed to silver which is a very soft metal.
Keep each piece dry to retain beauty and lustre. To Clean, polish with a soft dry cloth.

If you are not satisfied with your purchase, please return it for a refund or exchange within 15 days of the date of receipt. Returned items need to be in their original condition without signs of wear, damage, or alteration. This includes gift boxes and velvet pouches. Unfortunately, we can’t accept returns any other way.
If any order items are damaged during transit contact us immediately for assistance within 15 days. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items or products taken elsewhere for repairs, engraving or alterations of any kind. There is no warranty on color (as far as how it will last), color changes, or stones coming out. We do not offer returns or exchanges on used items.
Final Sale on Custom Special Order items can’t be refundned, but exchanges are possible for items of the same value or less, with the price difference refunded. For an exchange of a higher valued item, customers are responsible for the price difference.
Ensure Returns are Securely Packaged
Returned items need to arrive in their original condition. Secure packaging means in the original packaging, a padded envelope or a small box with bubble wrap and including the return / exchange form. If you would like a receipt for the return, delivery confirmations are for sale at any post office. For any returns, we highly recommend insuring the package at the post office for protection against loss.
Note: If you chose any shipping method other than FREE SHIPPING during checkout, your shipping fee will not be refunded.
Returns are Inspected and Processed within 7 Business Days
Returns are inspected and processed within 7 business days of receipt. We are not responsible for items that are damaged or lost during return shipping, therefore adequate packaging and insurance are recommended. Credit is issued to your original method of payment and you will receive an email confirmation. We do not accept returns if they arrive in any condition other than their original state or if they are past our 15-day return period. They will be sent back to you; if you reject that return shipment, Custom2aTee reserves the right to liquidate the inventory and withhold your credit.
Note: If you use your own courier service, you are responsible for filing a claim with the courier if items are damaged during return shipping.
Free Gift Return Policy
The free gift is based on the total of your order. If the value of your purchase drops below the required minimum after a return, we can’t treat you to a free gift. If you decide to keep the gift, we have to charge a reduced sum of $9.99.
Reward Points Return Policy
Please note - if you have already used rewards points from an order that is being returned, the cash equivalent of the points used will not be refunded for returned order.
International Returns & Exchanges
For our international customers we now accept returns and exchanges. Please keep in mind you are responsible for the return shipping cost. In the event your package is damaged during shipping, let us know right away so we can file a claim with the carrier. We will either ship you a replacement or issue a refund after the claim is granted.
